Alice I. Garcia Ph.D

Alice Garcia, Ph.D. is an educator, independent researcher, and lifelong reader with over 25 years of experience teaching English across levels, settings, and borders. Her love of horror and gothic literature began early, with childhood stories shaped less by cheerful puppies and more by Ichabod Crane, Montresor, Rappaccini’s daughter, and other charmingly unsettling figures.

Over the course of her career, Alice has taught English in four different states, online, and internationally. Her work brings together literature, language, and learning, with a

particular interest in how horror and gothic texts can help students connect and think critically about identity, culture, fear, and power.

Having experienced alternative education as both a student and a teacher, Alice understands the importance of meeting learners where they are. Her teaching and research are rooted in curiosity, accessibility, and the belief that strange stories often open the door to the most meaningful conversations.
